Pastor reports Jamestown youth in Duluth are safe
A mission trip from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown consisting of nine Jamestown children and three adults has been in Duluth since Sunday. “We’re great and everybody’s mostly dry,” said the Rev. Suzi Orlopp, associate pastor with St. John’s Lutheran, who is on the mission trip. “It’s a little crazy here but we’re doing pretty well and we’re safe.” Orlopp said there have been no issues with the building the group is staying in along with a 25-person mission group from Iowa and two other mission groups from Minnesota. With most of the “cut & muck” and “button up” jobs done, Lutheran Disaster Response is transitioning into the Rebuild phase. At the beginning of this phase, houses will be assessed for needed repairs and an estimation of cost of building materials will be done. Some houses are ready now for volunteers. Continue reading…
Electricians are needed in Minot to install electrical panels for power to furnaces to prevent wall collapsing in homes that will not be rebuilt until next spring. Retired master electricians to oversee journeymen, apprentices and skilled others are being sought for this task. HVAC installers are also needed.

People of our parish met Denise through One Woman’s Journey, a DVD Dave Sena, Northlands Rescue Mission Director, shared with us. As Denise’s story unfolded, we realized she never had a chance—the chance most of us had received growing up. We finally understood how people end up at the Mission. We were hooked on helping.
