In an effort to get information that you may need in a timely accessible form, I have recorded some of the most frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) from our conference assemblies regarding rostering changes within the ELCA. They are not highly polished, but hopefully they will be of some help as you seek to be faithful. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is inviting members and the general public to submit their videos to a contest inspired by our tagline: “God’s work. Our hands.” Prizes include a $5,000 ministry grant for ELCA congregations or a $2,500 cash prize for individuals. Second prize in both categories is an HD flip video camera.
How to Participate:
- Shoot a short video on what “God’s Work. Our Hands” means to you
- Upload your video (external link) before July 15, 2009
- Tell your friends and family to view your video and rate it!

Preparing for the 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly
Starting June 29 and continuing for the 50 days leading up to Aug. 17, you are invited to pray for wisdom in discernment for the ELCA and voting members of the 2009 Churchwide Assembly (external link).
Daily prayers, scripture readings and hymns are posted on the ELCA website (external link).
These prayer resources are available for use by individuals, small groups or as a congregation-wide initiative.

In a little more than two months, the 2009 ELCA Churchwide Assembly, this church’s highest legislative authority, will open in Minneapolis, MN. The ELCA’s assembly web site has information about the topics voting members will consider, registration information and other information about the event.

Eastern North Dakota Voting Members to the 2009 Churchwide Assembly are encouraged to visit this site!
A new DVD, The Eastern North Dakota “US” – Stories of Shared Ministry, is now available thanks to generous people willing to share their talents. This DVD highlights some of the good work happening in the Eastern North Dakota Synod.
The two main stories on the title page of the DVD convey the mission of the Synod and that of the greater ELCA. There are 12 chapter story videos detailing some of the ministries of the Eastern North Dakota Synod. Enjoy viewing them. We want you to know the ‘Synod Stories’ to feel good about enthusiastically supporting our work together. Each congregational president has received a copy of this DVD for use in their local congregation.
