Focused and Engaged in the Mission

A Word from Bishop Rindy

In the midst of all that is going on in our world, I’m actually excited. There are many things which could drag our thoughts down. Instead, I invite you to listen to Jesus. “I am with you always, even to the end of the age,” and “you will be my witnesses.” Listen to these words from Paul: “Nothing in all of creation will be able to separate us from the love of God,” and “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about these things.” This is where we are called to focus.

I am looking forward to spending a different kind of synod assembly with you in April. Our theme – “God’s work. Our hands. Together in Mission”- will be highlighted several ways. First, the Mission Blitz will take place Saturday afternoon in the form of service projects. The impact you, as participants, will have on Jamestown and the surrounding communities is and is going to be inspiring. Throughout their work, the assembly planning committee is really excited to share this missional event with you.

Serving as your bishop, my hope is to keep this synod, our synod, focused on and engaged in the mission that God has given us to do together. Second, keep tuned in for the “extra mile for mission.” I am convinced that you’ll be excited to be a part of what I believe God is calling us to be as a church. God has big plans for us… and we get to be a part of it! Thanks be to God!
