Tour de Revs: 3 Guys, 1 Bike, 100 Days, 13,000 miles, 65 cities, A Mission to Fight World Hunger
Three ELCA pastors from the WV-WMD Synod (external link) will travel over 13,000 miles this summer on a Bamboo Bicycle Built for 3 to benefit ELCA World Hunger (external link) – and they’re coming to Fargo-Moorhead and the Eastern North Dakota Synod June 27-28, 2009!
Saturday, June 27:
- 3:00 pm – We will meet our friends at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN (external link) at 3:00 pm. The local press will be present. After a welcome reception, dessert and beverages, all are invited to bicycle with our Tour de Revs to Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN (external link) (approximately 22 miles). There will be checkpoints along the way, with a stop at Glyndon Lutheran in Glyndon, MN (external link).
- 5:30 pm – We will ride directly to Trinity Lutheran Church for a pot-luck and some informal time (Hunger Roundtable) with the Tour de Revs who will talk about their trip. We encourage hunger leadership from around the area to come join us wherever you are! There will be a free-will offering taken for ELCA World Hunger.
Sunday, June 28:
- The Revs are preaching at Faith, West Fargo (external link); Peace, Fargo (external link); Trinity, Moorhead (external link); and Martin’s, Casselton (external link) at morning worship!
- 5:00 – 9:00 pm – Enjoy a picnic and bands at Oak Grove Park; dinner provided; free will offering; and fair trade items for sale through Lutheran World Relief (external link).
For more information, visit the pastors’ website at www.tourderevs.org (external link) or email Vicki Schmidt at veschmidt45@msn.com or Rev. Dan Forsberg at danforsberg@fargopeace.org
The Hunger and Justice Committee of the synod is asking every Eastern North Dakota congregation to take an offering for the ELCA World Hunger appeal on Sunday, June 28 (or a date in close proximity). Please remit funds to the EaND Synod designated to “ELCA World Hunger Appeal.”
Thank you!
