The synod assembly is the annual gathering of pastors, associates in ministry, lay voting members and visitors who represent the congregations that make up the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Attendance at the assembly is expected of all pastors and associates in ministry under call. We look forward to being with you at the assembly!

Synod Assembly registration information and Voting Member packet materials will be availble in January and March (respectively) to view and download. We are requesting pastors or church office staff to print the required materials for their Voting Members. Materials will be available in paper format only upon request.

2010 Synod Assembly Information

General Information

Suggested items to bring to assembly:

  • A non-perishable food item for a local food pantry
  • A coffee mug and/or water bottle
  • A materials to assist with possible service assignments:
    • crochet hooks/knitting needles
    • clean, white sheets for rolling bandages
    • heavy fabric to make tote-style school bags

Mission Blitz

On Saturday afternoon there is opportunity for service - God’s Work. Our Hands. Together in Mission. - our assembly theme in action. Many projects and sites will be arranged for people of all ages and abilities.

  • When you register, indicate your activity level
  • You will receive your mission assignment (work crew) Saturday morning when you arrive at the Jamestown Civic Center
  • There will be additional activities / education components to experience at the Civic Center if you arrive back early from your project.
  • Plan to wear comfortable, casual clothing Saturday (Some projects may include outdoor work, weather permitting)

Please note:
When you check in at assembly, you will receive a large envelope/folder for the materials you have printed and brought with you. In addition, you will receive your nametag, voting cards, a sample ballot, and anything else you may need for assembly.

Registration

Voting Member Registration Form

  • Registration closes March 29, 2010
  • After filling out the form, please submit your $125 registration fee (per voting member) to the synod office.

Visitor Registration Form

  • Registration closes April 5, 2010
  • Visitors are welcome to attend assembly free of charge.
  • Meals must be ordered and paid for in advance.

*Please note that registration for the Global Mission Breakfast is also included in these registration forms. If you choose to attend the Global Mission Breakfast please include $12 per ticket. Mail to 1703 32nd Ave S, Fargo ND 58103.

Housing

Blocks of rooms have been reserved at certain Jamestown motels/hotels. To take advantage of our special pricing, please refer to the room as Eastern North Dakota, ELCA Synod Assembly. More information available in the Housing Information pdf below.

  • Paul Aladin, president of Tri-City Haitian Ministries (which worships at Golden Ridge Lutheran Church, Fargo), is the guest speaker. He will speak about his country, and will share personal experiences of family and friends who were devastated by the recent earthquake and how we might help them in relief and reconstruction.
  • Tickets are $12 per person.
  • You may indicate your attendance intent on either the Voting Member or Visitor registration forms; meal fees may be mailed to the synod office. Indicate “Global Mission Breakfast” in the check memo line.
  • Tickets may be picked up at the Global Mission display table at assembly in April.
