The synod assembly is the annual gathering of pastors, associates in ministry, lay voting members and visitors who represent the congregations that make up the Eastern North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Attendance at the assembly is expected of all pastors and associates in ministry under call.

Agenda Highlights:

  • Registration opens at 7:00 am. The assembly will commence at 8:30 am
  • Special guests include Secretary of the ELCA David Swartling, Dr. Rollie Martinson, Luther Seminary and Dr. Diane Jacobson, Director of Bible Book of Faith & Luther Seminary
  • Workshops will be presented on a variety of ministry topics
  • Synod business and elections
  • Bishop Election
  • Milestones in Ministry will be celebrated
  • Sunday morning celebration worship with Holy Communion
  • EaND Resource Center, Augsburg Fortress, and ministry displays
  • Prayer chapel
  • Show your appretiation for Bishop Rick Foss on Friday, April 4, 2008 at "An Evening of Thanks and Celebration"
  • Lots of opportunity for fellowship!

Voting Members:

  • All rostered clergy and associates in ministry under call or contract are voting members.
  • Any confirmed active member is eligible for election to be a voting member. The number of elected lay voting members from your congregation is determined by the number of baptized members (see the Synod Assembly Registration Letter (download .pdf file) for more information).
  • Retired and on leave from call clergy/associates in ministry have voice, but not vote (unless serving a congregation under contract).
  • If substitutions of voting members are made, please inform the synod office as soon as possible.
