Youth & Family Ministry provides opportunities for the youth of the Eastern North Dakota Synod to gather and share their faith through experiences that challenge, encourage, nurture, and foster faithful leadership. Several events are scheduled throughout the calendar year.
September 23-25, 2011
Castaway Club - Detroit Lakes, MN (external link)
Start planning now! We hope to see you at the Castaway Club for the fall retreat!
This gathering is open to youth currently in grades 6-8. The program for the retreat will be excellent... meaningful worship, praise & spoken word. It’s going to be a wonderful event centered on what it means to be God’s child, living in community together. The schedule is designed with the middle school youth in mind, full of options and possibilities. Look for fun additions to be added to the weekend!
Each group is to bring their own male and female leaders for their campers. We request that leaders be sophomores in High School and older. Leaders will be housed with youth from your group. Suggested ratio is 1 per 7 youth. If you bring 5 males and 22 females you would need to bring 1 male leader and 4 female leaders.
Cost and Registration$107 ($55 non-refundable deposit) covers the cost of the retreat, T-shirt, all meals, program, linens, towels, and heated rooms! All registrations must be in by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011. Please register using the group registration form below.

July 18-22, 2012
New Orleans, Louisiana
Every 3 years the ELCA has a youth gathering which involves around 36,000 teenagers and adults gathering together as a church to worship, to serve, to grow in discipleship and to celebrate Jesus Christ, our faith and our Lutheran heritage.
The theme, citizens with the saints, comes directly from the text around which the ELCA Youth Gathering is being shaped: Ephesians 2:14-20 (external link).
This event will be a service learning experience that will affirm young people's welcome into God’s story through baptism, will help them draw closer to God by engaging in intentional faith practices, will train them to bear witness to Jesus' activity for the sake of the world, and will arouse in them their vocational call to "serve all people, following the example of Jesus" (ELW pg. 236).
Visit the ELCA National Youth Gathering (external link) page for more information.
The Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) is an organization of high-school age young people who are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The LYO is a place where the voices of young people are lifted up in the church. This ministry happens through young people discussing and advocating issues of importance to them concerning faith, youth ministry, the ELCA, local communities, and the world.
