The Synod Council is the board of directors for the Eastern North Dakota Synod. Each person elected to the Synod Council shall be a voting member of a congregation of the Eastern North Dakota Synod, with the exception of ordained ministers on the roster of this synod who reside outside the territory of the synod. Synod Council meetings are scheduled in April in conjunction with synod assembly, and in the fall.
Officers: Bishop elected by the Synod Assembly to a six-year term, eligible for one consecutive reelection. Vice president, secretary and treasurer elected by the Synod Assembly to a four-year term, eligible for one consecutive re-election. Terms of office begin on the first day of the third month following election.
Additional Members: One clergy and one layperson from each conference nominated by the Conference Assembly for a term of two years, elected by Synod Assembly, eligible for two consecutive re-elections; two persons of color or primary language other than English nominated by the Nominating Committee for a term of two years, eligible for two consecutive re-elections; one youth suggested by the youth organization and nominated by the Nominating Committee for a term of one year, eligible for two consecutive re-elections. Terms of office begin immediately after election at the Synod Assembly. The chairpersons of WELCA and LYO shall be nonvoting members.
